Reince Priebus resigned and of course Trump announced it on Twitter

Sad!

The Trump White House, much like life, is a bizarre circus of surreal nightmares and crushed dreams. President Donald Trump re-emphasized this with a series of late afternoon tweets on Friday, with which he announced Reince Priebus was out as his chief of staff.

These were the bombshell missives:

Department of Homeland Security head John Kelly has been tapped to take the role.

The announcement follows a batshit crazy week in which Trump announced he had banned transgender individuals from serving in the military on Twitter without consulting the Department of Defense. His new communications chief, Anthony Scaramucci, also called for Priebus’ blood in a bizarre interview on CNN and an unhinged interview with the New Yorker.

Trump brought some semblance of dignity to this technicolor nightmare by at least thanking Reince for his service, though he was the shortest-serving Chief of Staff in history.

Whether or not Priebus was fired is yet to be confirmed he has said he resigned “privately,” but it’s entirely possible he was forced out.

Whether this was a “You’ll resign or else” situation or a “Oh, that’s how it’s gonna be? I’m out” decision may be come clearer in the coming days but whatever. This is … something.

2017, everybody!
